Recipes & Presets

Bake Wrangler has two separate systems for reusing configuration across files: a Recipe Library for whole node trees, and Settings Presets for individual settings nodes.

Recipe Library

The Recipe Library, found in the Bake Node Editor’s side panel (see Interface), stores complete recipes — every node in a tree — in a shared .blend file so they can be pulled into any project, not just copy-pasted within one file.

  • + — saves the currently open recipe to the library, prompting for a name. The active Recipe Settings node’s Pin state is preserved automatically. Object references ( materials, worlds, scenes chosen by name) are cleared before saving, since a library recipe is meant to be object-agnostic and reused across different files.

  • − — removes the selected library entry (with a confirmation prompt).

  • Load Recipe — copies the selected library entry into the current file as a new node tree and switches the current editor to it.

The library file itself lives wherever the Recipe Lib add-on preference points (see Preferences) — by default, a library.blend bundled with the add-on. Point this at a shared network location or a version-controlled file if you want a team-wide recipe library.

Note

Because object references are stripped when saving to the library, a loaded recipe needs its Objects/Target/Source/Scene fields re-populated for the new file — what’s preserved is the structure of the recipe (which passes, which outputs, which settings), not which specific objects it was last pointed at.

Settings Presets

Every settings node (Recipe Settings, Mesh/Pass/Output Settings Override) has its own, independent preset system, using Blender’s standard preset mechanism. The node’s current preset name is shown as a button along the top of the node; click it to choose a saved preset, or use the small preset icon next to it to save the current values as a new one (or manage existing ones).

Presets capture every field on the settings node — mesh, pass, and output settings on a Recipe Settings node all together, or just the relevant subset on an Override node. Unlike the Recipe Library, presets are stored on your machine (via Blender’s normal preset directory) rather than inside a .blend file, so they follow you between projects automatically but aren’t shared just by sending someone your file.

Tip

Use Settings Presets for reusable configuration (e.g. “4K PNG, GPU, margin 8px”) and the Recipe Library for reusable structure (e.g. “my standard hard-surface PBR bake setup”). They complement each other — a library recipe can reference a settings node that you then repoint at one of your saved presets.
